1962 and 1963 were the heights of my (somewhat incompatible) careers as a fashion photographer and a photo-journalist, first by being commissioned to photograph the high fashion collections in Rome and Paris, for Harper’s Bazaar USA, then by being sent on a photo-journalistic trip around the world, for the German magazine Revue. I spent the rest of the decade with a series of more or less successful experiments, while missing what many of my contemporaries considered the excitement of that era, such as the Rock'n'Roll scene, the “liberation movements” of the late 60’ and early 70’ and the experiments of psychedelic art. As if – at only about 40 – I felt too old for that kind of games…
