Fashion for French Vogue

1964 - 86

Introduction

When I began working for FRENCH VOGUE, my "natural" style had ceased to be a novelty. In fact, I had practiced it so often (and seen it practiced so widely by imitators) that I was yearning for a change. On the other hand, this style had its roots in my own way of being, which meant that I couldn't just drop it and pick up something else, as one replaces an old fashion by a new one. In fact I did experiment in several directions, and this is why I cannot make any general statement about my work of this period. Some specific information will be found beside the enlarged images.
